I recently stumbled across an article about a doctor in Michigan doing FGM (see earlier post for more info. on FGM) on hundreds of young girls in the U.S. While I was shocked that FGM occurred in the U.S. (even with it being banned), what outraged me more was the fact that a judge dropped charges against the doctor, declaring the U.S.'s ban against FGM as unconstitutional. I will keep this post short, as I believe my previous post on FGM details many of the reasons FGM is inhumane and should be banned worldwide, but I did want to make sure other people were aware that FGM exists in the US (in 2018), yet people are not hearing much about it.
